Is it too soon to be dreaming about winter weather?
“I realize there’s something incredibly honest about trees in winter,
how they’re experts at letting things go.” - Jeffrey McDaniel

“The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn't matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark.”

Sometimes I wonder just how tall the buildings in my town will grow to be.

Where the sand meets the ocean, the ocean meets the mountains,
and the mountains meet the sky.

I'm currently reading The Overstory by Richard Powers. The theme of trees is beautifully woven throughout and has spilled into my art. It's a lovely book if anyone is looking for something to read.

When I was a kid I spent countless hours on the roof of our house. I'd climb up the loquat tree and make that shingled surface my kingdom. One of my favorite spots was behind the chimney where I could not be seen (or found) from below. I took all kinds of things up there...dolls, Hitchcock Mystery Magazines, umbrellas (to slow my descent when I jumped off of the roof), snacks, and friends on occasion. I was thinking of this special spot as I painted this.
