Same as it Ever Was

I was at the store the other day.

Cutie checker lady: "I love your hair!"

Me: "Oh, thanks. I just roll out of bed and settle for whatever it decides to do that day."

Adorable bagger dude: "I've had the same haircut since I was a kid."

And I absolutely believe him! He had the cutest little boy haircut on a man EVER!

Same as it ever was awesomeness....

A Backyard Whodunnit

We've had four eggs laid by our chicken(s). And it is fabulous! But the mystery of which chicken is laying them has been driving us a bit nuts. We knew that it couldn't have been Red. Her eggs are expected to be brown and the eggs we've been finding have been white. So that left Phyllis and Fuzzy as possible layers. Hmmmmmm....

But this afternoon the most amazing and wonderful thing EVER happened. I was outside in our chickens' yard giving them cottage cheese and grass. They were super duper happy, munching, munching, munching. All of a sudden one of them ran behind the air conditioner, faced the corner where two walls meet, and started doing very strange movements. Now I've seen my chickens do a lot of strange movements, but nothing like this, so of course I got myself in a good spot to watch.

And lo and behold, a couple of minutes later an egg popped out. A beautiful, perfect, and amazingly oval egg!

Me: "Phyllis! You are awesome! Thank you!"

Phyllis: "Whatever, I'm going back to eat some more."

And that amazing girl of mine scampered back to the food and I retrieved my prize.

Woo hoo! Mystery solved!

Rolling Roly Poly

Sometimes random thoughts...they just show up outa nowhere. Seriously, that's my only explanation for this.

I was just sitting here wondering what happens to a roly poly if it loses the functioning of some of its many, many legs. Well, I thought, of course it would need to have a wheel to replace the troublesome limbs.

And then it would be a rolling roly poly.

Ya, I dunno, I didn't get much sleep last night...but I must admit I'm rather in love with this little dude!

Chicken Dance

The little guy had his karate holiday party today. It was all perfectly wonderful...until...it was time for the parents to try their hand at what the kids do.

Dave pulled the whole "I'm being the photographer, I can't." And so it was me.

The kid tried to teach me a few things and soon realized that I am, in fact, unteachable.

So when it was my turn to get in front of the students and their parents, I bowed, pointed at my kid and said, "He taught me everything I know," and then I did ten punches followed by the chicken dance and a loud, "BA-CAW!!!!"

I did the kid proud, I have no doubt.

The Crowd

The school where I work was crowded today.  Super CROWDED!  Especially for me as my classroom is the closest one to all of the voting hoopla.  And while it was a tad troublesome to get in and out of my classroom, for my parents to drop off and pick up their children, and for us to take our students to and from where they needed to go during the day, it was simply FABULOUS to see the crowds.  For the entire day there was a long and simply delicious line.  All was peaceful.  All was efficient.  It was a beautiful thing.

That crowd was definitely Kali approved.
