The Beauty in Between

And sometimes I need to hear that there's as much beauty
in the clouds as there is in what is in between.

The Smell and the Taste of Things

I'm taking a wonderful online class and this was the next thing to work on...a nose and a mouth. I have this silly little inner voice that wants to pick it apart and be critical, but my awesome inner voice says, "Hey, you can actually tell it's a nose and a mouth!"

Yeah, I'm gonna listen to my awesome inner voice.

I'm super excited to learn more about drawing and painting faces!

Window to the Soul

I've just started taking an amazing online class from the beautiful Pauline Agnew. I'll be working on expressive faces and figures. So please bear with me as I will be posting my classwork on my blog. I'm super excited about this new artistic adventure, a little scared, too, as I typically paint in another style completely, but my excitement outweighs that big time.

Here's the first. I used charcoal.

Holiday Traditions

Most years we make it down to the Trail of Lights and the Zilker Tree...after all, it's just a quick walk from our house. Last night we all went and happily my big guy's girlfriend joined us, too. What a lovely night of family tradition togetherness, right?

Well, here's how it went. My big guy and his girlfriend split off from us right away. I suppose to make the first night of a tradition for just the two of them. They graciously allowed me to take a quick photo of them first...you know, so I could prove we were together at least briefly. Then Dave took out his camera and stopped about every 10 feet to take an amazing picture. It reminded me of how it was when we had a male dog and he needed to stop to pee every few feet.

The little guy and I had a quick chat and agreed that we should move on on our own and let Dave catch up.

So our group of five was now two. The kid and I walked and talked and he gifted me with a selfie or two. And then Dave found us. And then the big guy texted me. And all of a sudden it felt like all five of us were together again.

Holiday traditions evolve...bliss.

In the Background

So the kid is a prankster.

I actually love this about him...when he's pranking other people, that is.

But what's been happening is this.  Each day for several days now, when I go to my computer there's a new background.  And it's not just any background.  Nope.  It's a background of my little guy's design.  You see, the kid rather digs Will Farrell.  That's all fine and wonderful, I dig him, too.  But unlike this creative kid of mine, I do not use Photoshop to create odd Will Farrell creatures.

Yup, on my background currently is Will Farrell's face somehow edited onto a girl's head and body.  Most disturbing.

And now I'm feeling my inner payback prankster brewing to the surface...suggestions welcome.

Bubblicious!

OK.  I made a new discovery today that was so awesome!  And I know you likely already know about it, but to me it was all new and amazing.  Today for the first time ever, I tried one of those bubble drinks.  Bubblicious awesomeness!!!  I got avocado milk...with bubbles... which made my family curl their lips and raise at least one eyebrow in suspicion, but it full on rocked!

Avocado...perfection!
Sweet condensed milk...bliss!
Tapioca balls...fabulous!

It's officially my new favorite thing!
