Spotted

I had to take a sick day today as I was on day 4 of having a cold and fever. But I made the best of it by doing a sweet tutorial by Danielle Donaldson between naps. I'm pretty much in love with this little spotted bunny.

Ideas Flow

I'm super lucky to have a kid who is super flexible about allowing his mama's ideas to flow...even if they're flowing all over him.

Today my mom and her lovely boyfriend came over for a late Christmas celebration. As was the tradition each year when I was a kid, my mom brought out all sorts of ornament making supplies. Everyone sat down and diligently began creating ornaments.  Me?  Well, while I did not make an ornament, I did let my creativity flow.

I clipped sparkly bits in my little guy's hair. Then I stuck golden squares to his cheeks to create "freckles". Then I hung beads around his neck. Then I put a sparkly choker around his forehead.

I'm thankful for fun family events and for my awesomely flexible kid.

This painting is also an ideas flow kind of thing. I just did random strokes, then stared at it for a bit until things simply managed to appear. Such fun!

A Little Morning Magic

I went for a lovely walk this morning in my dad's neighborhood.  As I was walking down the driveway there was a lovely doe to my right having a little snack.  She looked at me and then to my left.  I followed her gaze and there were two white spotted fawns.  I kept walking down the driveway and in the cul-de-sac there was a bunny.  I stopped in my tracks unable to move from this magical spot and looked around figuring surely I was in a Disney movie.

After a bit I was able to keep walking.  As I rounded a bend in the road there was a woman standing with her dog.  The dog was staring into the trees completely transfixed by the two bunnies that were just feet away.

Dog's person:  "We can't get anywhere when there are bunnies."

Me:  "I know exactly how your dog feels."

Nice to see that the dog felt the magic, too...only I suspect the dog was thinking of the edible type of magic.

Hunky Text Received

So I'm at the gym with Dave when I get a text from my kid.  Well, actually there was no text, it was just a photo...so what do you call that?

Anyway, I open the "text" and there was a photo of a hunky guy.  From just above his nose to just below his pockets.  Shirt off.  Nice pecs.  Nice biceps.  But, hey, why do I need to have this picture when I have my hunky husband right there with me to check out, right?  Right?

Me:  "Why?"

Little guy:  "I did a good job at least."

Me:  "But I had your super sexy dad to look at.  :-)"

So our workout continued, we left and went home, and then everything was completely explained.  So why did my kid send me a photo of a hunky dude?  Turns out it was a Photoshop project.  You see, said hunky dude was a bit of a Frankenstein's monster.  Nicolas Cage's head, Ryan Gosling's bod, Nicolas' mouth where a belly button should have been.

Yup, my husband is way sexier than that.

I'm all Ears

I have an otoscope of my very own.  Seriously, second only to a thermometor, it's the most awesome parent medical supply ever!  Anyway, the little guy felt like his ears were funny, so he asked me to take a gander.  Right ear was a bit funky, but I could see that healthy little eardrum bright and clear.  Left ear, well, nothin' but funky wax.  No sign of the eardrum at all.  Ew.  So I called the doctor's office and made an appointment.

Now, a little side note.  My little guy is famous around here for not hearing me...so he says.  I always suspected, and then accused, him of well, basically lying.  So maybe, just maybe, he was right and I owe him a big 'ol apology.

Well, we went to the doctor.  The nurse flushed, and flushed, and flushed, and flushed, and flushed....  That right ear was stubborn!  After flushing even more she got what looked like a teeny tiny lighted spoon.  She dug right in and....

Skip to our ride home - this is a courtesy skip, you don't want to know why.

Me:  "Do you think you can hear better now?"

Little guy:  "I think I just hear weirder."

Me:  "Yeah, I bet your ear is feeling pretty wacky about all that."

Little guy:  "I guess."

Me:  "So do you have any homework?"

Little guy:  ignore

Me:  "DO YOU HAVE ANY HOMEWORK?"

Little guy:  "I don't know what you're saying."

Yup, thinking an apology is not in order after all.  Goofy lovable kid!
