Moonlight Dream

OK, it's quite possible that I'm not really that great at going all the way through to the end with multiple day challenges. I had intended to go to 15 days, but here I am at day 8 and I think this painting is finished. I considered pushing through, but I'm rather fond of this composition so I choose to stop and let it be. I'm super excited to start another. It's such fun revisiting a piece day after day.

And the price of this painting was calculated following the method established in previous posts about this challenge.

Houses of Love

I make mom threats. It's true. And a lot of them are empty. You know how it goes. And here is one of my biggest ones.

Me: "You need to put all your clean clothes in drawers, not on the floor or in a pile on top of the chest, or I'm going to stop doing your laundry!!!"

And their clean clothes just kept right on not being in their drawers and I kept right on cleaning 'em.

But something has happened lately. My big guy has started doing all of his own laundry. And it's not like he's just throwing it in the washer and leaving it there (instead of not in his drawers) for days on end. Nope, he's staying on top of it, switching it to the dryer, and then taking it to his room. It's awesome!

Now just when I'm starting to think, "Hey, responsible wonderful kid, stay a while longer," he's getting set to move out.

And the words, "I'm not going to come home to do my laundry because I'll have machines in my apartment," make me just a bit misty.

Tea Time

I sat at a coffee shop sipping my tea.  Dave had a muffin and coffee.  We played a game of gin rummy.  It was perfect.

And then it got just a bit more perfect.  A wee little sparrow landed right at our feet, looked up, and...well...begged.  In an oh, so cute kind of way.  I tossed it a few of Dave's muffin crumbs and it happily hopped about retrieving them.  I'm pretty sure it smiled and winked its thanks.

Lovely, lovely....

Channeling George Jetson

I'm super uptight about looking at my phone while I'm supposed to be doing something else.  I'd never look at it while driving.  Never!  I can just barely look at it while I'm walking.  And "barely" is an exaggeration.  But for some reason today at the gym I absentmindedly stepped onto a treadmill while looking at my phone.  I started the treadmill moving while looking at my phone.  I set the speed to the level that I usually set the incline.  While looking at my phone.

And I almost wiped out like George Jetson...while looking at my phone.

Check!  Lesson learned.

Does this haircut make my butt look fat?

Our big puppy, Hazel, is perfect in every way.  Well, except for the fact that she sheds.  Oh, and that she has a list of phobias about a mile wide.  The phobias?  Don't bug us a bit.  They rather crack us up.  Seriously...afraid of moving leaves, Hazel?  The shedding?  Can't stand it.  We find mini-Hazels all about the house...masses of black hair in the corners, under the tables, rolling across the floor like tumble weeds...not attractive.

Anyway, It was time to give our Hazel a hair cut.  (Did I mention she's clippers phobic?)  I started with her back.  It's the easiest and makes me feel good because I can get a lot done quickly.  Then I moved to her legs.  She's not a fan.  I'm not a fan.  We did not have a good time.  Next chest.  Then neck.  Then the holy grail of awfulness...her head.

And then I declared that I was done.  Finished.  The rest would be for Dave to do.  When?  I dunno.  Ever?  I did not care.  I was done.

I released Hazel to go in the room where everyone else was hanging out.  She looked like a mythical faun...my sweet girl in puffy Russian-esque fur pants.

Dave:  "Wow...Does this haircut make my butt look fat?"

Totally...but don't tell Hazel.  She's cruising around the house shedding half as much as she did the day before, blissfully clueless.

The Nerve!

I got home really late the other night.  Really, really, really late if you know me.  I had a fantastic reason for it...a reason that I'm not allowed to blog about.  Seriously...not.allowed.to.blog.about.it.  But I might just consider telling you in person if you ask me nicely.

Anyway, I walked in the house at 2:00 AM super hyper and super jazzed and totally ready to talk to anyone and everyone about it.  I was greeted by two super happy dogs that weren't the least bit interested in anything I had to say but happily accepted all the love I could dole out.  I walked through the kitchen to my room.  The light was off...Dave was asleep.  I looked down the hall, the light was off...big guy was asleep.  I passed by the middle bedroom and saw light from under the door.  I cracked it open and saw two very, VERY awake fourteen year old boys.  And they were VERY interested in everything I had to say.  Hooray!  And then I got tired.  Yup, last bit of energy spent on storytelling.  I dragged myself to the shower, got dressed for bed, and...

Little guy:  "Hey, mom!  Will you make us something to eat?"

Sorry, kid.  You earned a TON of points when you listened to my tale of adventure, but there's no way I'm gonna get busy in the kitchen and whoop up something for ya at 2:30 AM.

The nerve!

P.S. I woke up the next morning and did get seriously busy in the kitchen making breakfast for two incredibly adorable sleep-deprived teenagers.
