Eruption

Volcanoes symbolize creativity, rebirth, energy...as well as destruction and violence. As will all things, all people, all experiences, there are at least two sides.

World Travelin'

Costco style, that is.

After I worked out at the gym today I hit the Costco because we were out of everything.  Figuring there'd be no samples available, or at least none that I could eat with my finicky diet, I scarfed a couple dried pineapple slices from a bag I keep in my car for just such emergencies, and head in.

Well, I tell you what...I had the best Costco sample day ever!

Stuffed grape leaves, the most delicious lentil soup, hummus, and dried mango.  I was in Kali appetite heaven.

And now that I think about it, I didn't buy one thing I sampled.  Ya, I have no explanation for that.

Craving the Ruby Red

I was reminded a couple of weeks ago of something I absolutely loved to eat as a kid.  I'd completely forgotten about it until I ran across it on a blog...a blog I usually go to for art inspiration, but there it was!

We ate a lot of odd stuff in my childhood home.  Eventually I went the vegetarian route and avoided all the oddities.  But one thing was truly spectacular.  And I've been eating it lately most every night.

It's broiled grapefruit.  My family thinks I've flipped my cork, but I've welcomed a new evening ritual.  Slice it.  Cut around each of the sections.  Salt it.  Broil it.  Oh, man, delish!

Heat Test

I'm not one to complain about the heat...pretty much ever.  I'm the type who walks out of a grocery store or a movie theater, my body hitting the 105º heat, and I sigh with relief.  Hugely so.

But when I got home from work today and discovered that I had neglected to bring my house key and no one was home except the dogs, I thought, "No problem, I'm sure my kid put the spare key back in the super secret key hiding place we set up after realizing that he'd never ever remember to take his key with him."

So I searched and searched and searched and the only thing I discovered was that he had not, in fact, returned the key to its spot.  And then I began to officially complain about the heat.  And darn if there wasn't anybody there to listen.  Sigh....

Oh, and did I mention that today was the day I decided to stop using that aluminum filled antiperspirant and instead use natural deodorant?

You bet I did...and, by golly, it worked!  I chalk this experience up to a fabulous test.

Thanks, kid!
